This is a wonderful 1950s French couture lemon yellow beaded blouson dress from Pouppone. We have sold this label before and the workmanship is extraordinary, certain akin to the best of the Parisian based haute couture houses. The dress has a really exquisite bodice covered in faceted crystal drops interspersed uniformly across the bodice. The neckline and the arm cinches additionally have a banded sequined arrangement with glass droplets and dangles of beads made from silver and gold. With a straight cut skirt, there is an additional embellished band along the bottom with a drop crystal fringe finishing the bottom hem to perfection.
Made entirely from a silk georgette fabric that is a double thickness. There is also an internal skirt that is made from an organza that is lined in an acetate and an internal waistband to support the structure of the blouson style. For access, there is a zip in the skirt element and the first layer of the bodice is accessed with a row of stud poppers for the georgette. This is followed by a second zip running the length of the poppers and the zip of the first dress layer. A very costly dress in its day, it is beautifully made and in wonderful vintage condition; we don't see any issues with it. There may be one or two beads missing overall but it's impossible to notice where worn. Best fit for up to a UK 10-12 or US 6-8. Our model is a UK 8-10 and 5ft 11in. (180cm) and this dress was a great fit on her.
